IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING NEW COLON CANCER SCREENING GUIDELINES AND COVERAGE

The USPSTF has updated their guidelines on colorectal cancer screenings and recommends that all people at average risk begin screening for colorectal cancer at age 45. The new guidelines will increase access to colorectal cancer screenings. According to the CCA, more than 15 million additional people will be able to get a preventive colorectal cancer screening, most at no cost.

The Affordable Care Act requires that Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance plans cover preventive screenings. For average-risk patients age 45 and older, this means no co-pay or out-of-pocket costs for routine screenings.

Please check with your carrier regarding coverage under the new guidelines.
