American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition
ASPEN promotes professional communication among and within professional disciplines in the broad field of clinical nutrition including parenteral and enteral nutrition. Both parenteral and enteral nutrition are in the form of a liquid. Enteral is used when the gut is still partially working, but you cannot eat or absorb enough nutrients to stay healthy, and is delivered directly into the stomach or intestine through a feeding tube. In parenteral the nutrients are delivered intravenously through a catheter which carries the liquid directly into the bloodstream where it is absorbed by the body, and and the GI tract is bypassed entirely.

"Heartburn, regurgitation and belching are terms that conjure up sensations of discomfort and feelings of embarrassment. And while these symptoms are not pleasant to talk about, they occasionally come up in conversation – usually followed by the words, “Excuse me.” Because persistent heartburn that occurs two or more days per week, despite diet changes and the use of over-the-counter medications, may be your body’s way of telling you that something is wrong, you should speak to your
doctor." ~
