  AM2A Video Capsule Studies

We are glad to announce that our GCSJ Doctors are now doing the Spyglass procedure to directly look in the bile duct for stones, tumors, or bile duct leaks at Virtua Memorial Hospital.

Gastroenterology Consultants of South Jersey is on the cutting edge to evaluate and treat in the area of Suspected Small Bowel Crohn's Disease, Known Crohn's Evaluation, Obscure Gastrointestinal Bleeding Evaluation, Undiagnosed Malabsorbtion Syndrome, and Suspected Tumors or Surveillance of patients with Polyposis Syndrome.

Bleeding of Unknown Origin
(first and second videos below):

The Capsule study shows fresh red blood in the small intestine. One of the major uses of the Pill Cam is to evaluate the small intestine in patients with recurrent GI bleeding. The small intestine is one area that is hard to reach with standard endoscopes.

Crohn's Disease
(third and fourth videos below):

Crohn's disease can occur in any portion of the GI tract. The video shows ulcers in the small intestine. The Pillcam allows direct visualization of the ulcers in areas that cannot be reached with traditional endoscopes.
